Your First Steps with Christ
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

These seven steps will help you grow in your new life as a believer. Take them one at a time, and trust the Lord to lead you.
When you believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, you were born again. You are no longer a stranger to God; you are His child. This is not based on your feelings but on His promise.
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."

You can rest in the assurance that you are saved and belong to Him forever.
God speaks to us through His Word. Make it a habit to read a little every day. A good place to start is the Gospel of John—it shows who Jesus is and why He came.
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Let the Bible feed your soul and guide your steps.
Prayer is simply talking to God. You can talk to Him about anything—your thanks, your needs, your worries. He is your Heavenly Father and He wants to hear from you.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 4:6-7 KJV
Start each day with God and you will know His peace.
Baptism is an act of obedience that pictures what Christ did for you—death, burial, and resurrection. It does not save you; you are already saved by faith. It is a public step that says you belong to Jesus.
"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls."

Take this step of obedience and identify with Christ.
You need other believers. Find a church that teaches the Bible and preaches the Gospel. Go regularly, get involved, and grow together with God's people.
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
— Hebrews 10:25 KJV
Fellowship with other Christians will strengthen your faith.
You have the best news in the world. Share it. You do not need to be a preacher—just tell people what Jesus did for you and what He can do for them.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
— Romans 1:16 KJV
Someone's eternity may depend on hearing the Gospel from you.
When you sin, confess it to God. He has promised to forgive and cleanse you. As you grow, you will want to live a life that honors Him—not to be saved, but because you are saved.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
— 1 John 1:9 KJV
Keep short accounts with God and walk in the light.
God has saved you and He will keep you. Keep growing in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."
